What is a digital gift card and how does it work?

A digital gift card is an electronic voucher delivered instantly by email. When a customer purchases one through your ZapGifts checkout, the recipient receives an email with a unique code, a personal message, and redemption instructions. They can show the email on their phone or print it out to use in your store, or redeem it online at checkout.

How do I get started selling gift cards with ZapGifts?

Create a free account, upload your logo and set your brand colors, connect your Stripe, Square, or PayPal account, and publish your gift card checkout. Most businesses are fully live in under 10 minutes — no technical skills required.

Do I need a developer or technical skills to set up ZapGifts?

No. You can embed the gift card checkout directly on your existing website using a simple code snippet, or share a direct purchase link via social media, email, or your Google Business profile. No custom development is needed.

Are there monthly fees or a setup fee to use ZapGifts?

No. ZapGifts does not charge a monthly subscription or a setup fee on the standard plan. You only pay a small platform fee when a gift card sale is made, so there is no risk to getting started.

How does ZapGifts billing work after a gift card is sold?

When a customer purchases a gift card, the full sale amount is deposited into your connected payment processor account first. ZapGifts then bills platform fees separately on a weekly invoice, so you always receive the funds before any fees are collected.

Are payment processing fees included in ZapGifts pricing?

No. Payment processing fees are charged separately by your payment processor — Stripe, Square, or PayPal — and are not collected by ZapGifts. Your processor's standard rates apply to each transaction.

When does my business get paid for gift card sales?

Your payment processor deposits funds according to its own payout schedule — typically within one to three business days of each sale. ZapGifts invoices platform fees separately after the fact and does not hold your money.

Can I customize the gift card checkout to match my brand?

Yes. You can upload your business logo, set your brand colors, and add custom images to create a gift card store that looks like a natural extension of your own website.

Can customers use ZapGifts gift cards both online and in person?

Yes. Every gift card comes with a unique redemption code. Customers can present it at your physical location by showing the email on their phone or bringing a printed copy, and you can also accept codes through your online checkout flow.

Can gift card senders schedule delivery for a specific date?

Yes. When purchasing a gift card, senders can choose to deliver it immediately or schedule it for a future date — perfect for birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, and other occasions.

What does a gift card recipient receive after a purchase?

Recipients get a beautifully formatted email containing the gift card value, a personal message from the sender, their unique redemption code, and step-by-step instructions for how to use it. The email looks great on any device and includes an option to print.

Do customers need a smartphone to send or redeem a gift card?

No. Gift cards can be purchased from any device with a web browser. Recipients can also print their gift card and bring a physical copy to your store. No app download is required by the sender or recipient.

What happens when a customer only uses part of a gift card?

The remaining balance stays on the gift card. When a partial redemption occurs, the recipient automatically receives an updated email showing their new balance so they can use it on their next visit.

How do I track gift card sales and redemptions in real time?

Your ZapGifts dashboard shows all sales, redemptions, and outstanding balances as they happen. You can also set up email notifications so you are alerted whenever a new gift card is purchased.

How do I promote my gift cards to customers?

ZapGifts gives you a shareable purchase link you can post on your website, social media, email newsletters, and Google Business profile. You can also embed the full checkout widget directly on your site so customers can buy a gift card without leaving your page.

Do ZapGifts gift cards expire?

No. Gift cards sold through ZapGifts do not have an expiration date. Recipients can use them at any time, giving customers confidence that their gift will always be honored.

Is ZapGifts available for businesses outside the United States?

ZapGifts is available to businesses in the United States and Canada. If your business is located in another country, please contact our team to discuss available options.

How does ZapGifts keep customer and payment data secure?

ZapGifts does not store credit card numbers. All payment data is processed directly by your payment processor — Stripe, Square, or PayPal — each of which maintains PCI DSS compliance. Customer information and transaction records are encrypted and stored securely.

What support is available if I need help setting up or using ZapGifts?

ZapGifts provides setup guides, documentation, and a support team you can reach directly from your dashboard. If you run into any questions during onboarding or have ongoing account questions, you can submit a support ticket and our team will get back to you.
